Kitty Help for a Grandmother Shower

Last Sunday I hosted a Grandmother Shower for my two friends Robin and Sally whose children married each other and have had a baby. Baby and the daughter are staying in Tulsa with the grandparents while her husband is deployed in the Middle East for six months (he is a B1-Bomber pilot with the Air Force).

Of course Fuzz wanted to help.

On Saturday I picked up the cute cake and I put the cake on the washing machine as a safe but out of the way place to store it until the party. A little bit later I was working on getting platters and serving bowls out of the utility room and before I knew it Fuzz was standing on the cake. Of course 16.5 pounds of kitty standing on a decorated cake does not do much for the beautiful decorations.

As you can see, the cake actually survived pretty well and the end result of Fuzz standing on the cake was one of the faces of a teddy bear was smashed up onto the plastic covering. It looked like a cartoon bear who had smashed into a glass window.

I put the cake in a locked room until right before the party. As I set up the cake I cut out the plastic where the frosting was stuck and laid it on top of the cake. At a quick glance most people really didn't notice it and those who did thought the story very funny and my repair job to be very clever.
Later that evening as I was putting everything away Fuzz somehow jumped on top of the cabinets where some of the serving pieces were stored. I am grateful that the cake wasn't subjected to his coming down from up there (as directly below him is where the cake had been originally sitting when he stepped on it).
